Sh*t My Dad Sends
So, we’ve all been slacking a bit on the blog lately, and it occurred to me that in my case at least, it’s a matter of mindset. I’m exposed to all kinds of gee-whiz technology tidbits every day. I had just gotten out of the habit of thinking of them for blog post material. And once an item flits past my radar, and I don’t do anything with it, it’s effectively gone. So I was racking my brain yesterday grasping for something good to post about, and remembered my dad had just sent me a link to a David Pogue column about an iPhone app that lets you sidestep AT&T’s voice AND text features over wifi. And it then dawned on me that my dad sends me all kinds of stuff like that. Why am I not sharing most of it on this here technology blog?
I mentioned this at a staff meeting and someone joked that I should just post all the links at once and call it “Sh*t My Dad Sends”, a la Sh*t My Dad Says, the popular twitter feed. So, here you go. The cream of the last few months of sh*t my dad sends:

Tweaking a Camera to Suit a Hobby
Why there’s no spam filter on an iPhone
YOUR BRAIN ON COMPUTERS: Outdoors and Out of Reach, Studying the Brain

PS I should give my dad a little extra plug here. Besides being my personal tech news aggregator, he’s also an inspiration for my photography and photoblogging. Check out Robert Crowe’s St. Louis Daily Photo.
